Vision benefits continue into retirement, dental do not.
Life Insurance
Life insurance continues at the option of the retiring member, and is payable to the Association, who forwards the payment to our provider.
VSP Vision Coverage
Vision is purchased directly by FPA, and does continue into retirement. Service retirements yield 18 months of continuing coverage. Medical retirements trigger continuing coverage for 36 months.
Delta Dental
Dental is purchased for our members by the City of Fremont. Delta is not continued into retirement. Coverage terminates effective on the member’s date of employment termination.
FPA does not directly purchase dental coverage. The City of Fremont administrates Delta Dental policies for all FPA Members via their Human Resources office.

Every employee member has coverage under Delta Dental. Their spouse, and dependents (until age 19 or 23 if a full time student) are also covered. Your dental provider should be able to look up your policy by name and likely the social security number of the FPA member named in the policy.
